Nerlens Noel Sent to D-league amidst Post Injury and Trade Rumors

noel76ers power forward/ center Nerlens Noel has been sent to the D-league for practice on injury assignment and will return to the Sixers on Thursday, according to the team. Let’s be honest, as of right now and for the past year, trading Noel makes the most sense for the Sixers and their future progression to becoming an elite contender. He’s also made it clear that he doesn’t want to be in Philly. With Simmons coming back at SF (should be around mid-January, 12 weeks for recovery plus a few to get back in shape) there’s going to be a cut in playing time for existing players, and with an overload of centers it just makes more sense to trade for a player that we can actually utilize. Here’s what to ESPN’s Marc Stein had to say about the on-going situation,

“Nothing has changed here. Noel has yet to appear in a game this season after electing to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery last month, but word is he’d still prefer to be shipped to a new address with so many big men to battle for playing time in Philly. Count on the Sixers to accommodate him eventually.”

There are teams that I think would be better suited for Noel. The couple that comes right to mind are the Knicks and the Bulls. I’ll be sure to go more in depth with my trade break downs, opinions, and reasonings this week, until then let me know what you think.

The Sixers were dumb because you have 4 7 footers. I feel this teams is Joel Embiids. I felt the 76ers pretty much did this to try and see who would of panned out first. Nerlens is a great defender but his trade value is off the charts now.

That’s exactly what they did. They waited to see who would produce and Embiid secured his spot very early on.This just isn’t the team for Noel. It was him and Okafor on the chopping block and now the Sixers are revisiting the idea of making Embiid and Okafor a duo (which I don’t think will work at all because okafor is too one dimensional, there’s still room and time for development but that’s always a risk.) The Sixers have a lot of raw talent at the moment, if they handle this the right way and make smart trade decisions I see a solid future for the team. If they make the wrong decisions it could be detrimental to all of the progress made so far. Only time will tell…

Their biggest problem is trying to convince established veterans to come play for the Sixers. As of right now their vets are Jerryd and Gerald and those are just average players. I like that the Utah JAZZ signed Joe Johnson because even though he’s known as ISO Joe, he has accomplishments under his belt. I love the Elton Brand signing last year and I felt that was purely for Embiid and Okafor. The Sixers shouldn’t of traded Jrue holiday for Nerlens then wants to trade him again. Sergio Rodriguez is Ricky Rubio which he can get you assists but he is gonna get ate up by everyone else from Kemba Walker to Derrick Rose, To Steph etc. I like the Stauskas trade last year, I also like McConnell but I don’t want the Sixers to turn into the Kings. That organization needs to be in the playoffs. Market is too big and the fans deserve it. Hinkie fucked everything up.
